Section I: Preparation Before Removing the Galvo Motor

First Power-Off Procedure

Before performing any disassembly, ensure the laser welding equipment is powered off to guarantee operational safety and prevent electric shock or component damage.

Second Disassemble the Gun Body Rear Cover

Use appropriate tools to remove the protective rear cover of the welding gun, exposing the internal galvo motor and optical components.

Disconnect the galvo motor terminal cable.

Note: Do not touch the metal contact points at the rear of the motor to avoid static electricity or oil contamination, which may cause signal interference or motor malfunction.

Third Remove Galvo Motor Mounting Screws

Use suitable tools to remove the four screws securing the galvo motor. It is recommended to loosen them in a diagonal pattern to avoid uneven stress.

Fourth Extract the Galvo Motor

Gently and steadily remove the galvo motor to prevent collisions or accidental drops.

According to Foster Laser’s years of equipment maintenance experience, removing the galvo motor before replacing the reflective mirror can effectively reduce the risk of component

damage.

Purpose:

Prevent accidental collision with the motor during mirror disassembly;

Avoid dust or debris from entering the motor;

Increase workspace for easier and safer mirror replacement.

Section II: Galvo Motor Protection and Sealing
Foster Laser adheres to strict anti-dust and anti-static standards during equipment assembly. It is therefore recommended to seal the galvo motor using masking tape for temporary protection.

Choose masking tape with soft texture and moderate adhesion to seal the motor’s optical opening and connection interfaces.

Advantages of Masking Tape Sealing:

Dust and Contamination Protection: Effectively isolates the motor from airborne dust and oil particles;

Anti-Static Function: Reduces the risk of static-induced contamination on optical lenses and motor components;

Non-Damaging Temporary Seal: The tape leaves no residue, causes no surface damage, and is ideal for short-term protective use.

Section III: Reflective Mirror Replacement Procedure

First Remove Reflective Mirror Screws

Locate and loosen the two screws securing the reflective mirror at the front of the laser welding gun. Store the screws properly to avoid loss.

Second Replace the Mirror

Carefully insert the new reflective mirror into the holder. Ensure the mirror is aligned either perpendicularly or horizontally with the galvo motor’s optical path.

Avoid direct contact with the mirror surface; use lint-free gloves during handling.

Third Secure and Align the Mirror

Tighten the screws diagonally to distribute clamping force evenly and prevent angular misalignment.

After tightening, inspect to ensure the mirror is vertically aligned with the laser output path.

Section IV: Reassembly and Final Checks

First Reinstall the Galvo Motor

Remove the masking tape protection. Align the mounting holes and carefully place the galvo motor back into position.

Secure the motor with screws in a diagonal tightening pattern to ensure it is firmly mounted.

Second Reconnect the Galvo Motor Terminal

Ensure proper orientation and alignment of the connector during insertion to guarantee stable contact.

Caution: Avoid touching the rear pins during reconnection to prevent contact failure or short circuits.

Third Reattach the Gun Body Rear Cover

Reinstall the cover and tighten the screws to restore the structure’s integrity and cleanliness.

Fourth Power-On Testing

Restore power to the system and perform a functional test to verify laser alignment and laser welding equipment galvo motor stability.

It is recommended to run a low-power test during initial startup to ensure proper function.

Important Tips

Always use anti-static gloves or tools during operation;

Avoid performing mirror replacement in dusty or high-humidity environments;

Regularly inspect the cleanliness of reflective mirrors and monitor motor performance to ensure long-term system reliability.

Procedure Completed

The reflective mirror replacement process is now complete. Throughout the operation, particular attention must be paid to maintaining the cleanliness of optical components and protecting

precision galvo motors, ensuring the laser system continues to operate with high efficiency, stability, and precision.
